Terms of use

Safety notice. Oroski is an informational aid. It is not a substitute for professional avalanche assessment, formal avalanche education, or a certified mountain guide. The absence of a flag in a bulletin does not mean a slope is safe. Every decision in the field is the user's own responsibility.

1. Scope

These terms govern your use of Oroski (operated by Tom Böttcher (Pre-Launch-Beta — siehe Impressum)) at orosski.innovaitb.de. During the closed beta, access is by invitation and may be revoked at any time without cause.

2. Account and eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• One account per person. No sharing of credentials.
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Report suspected misuse to tom.bottcher@outlook.com.

3. Nature of the information

Oroski aggregates publicly available avalanche bulletins (EAWS, ALBINA, SLF, LWW), weather data (Open-Meteo) and field observations (LAWIS) into a single view. We do not generate bulletins ourselves. Data may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. Always consult the primary sources and use your own judgement in the field.

4. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no warranty that the bulletin or weather information is current, complete or correct. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all implied warranties.

5. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator (Tom Böttcher (Pre-Launch-Beta — siehe Impressum)) is not liable for damages arising from decisions made based on information provided by Oroski. Mandatory liability under German/Austrian/Swiss law (e.g. for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health) remains unaffected.

6. Acceptable use

• No automated scraping or bulk download of the API.
• No resale or commercial redistribution of the data.
• No attempts to circumvent authentication or rate limits.
• No reverse-engineering the risk-score beyond what the "show full math" panel discloses.

7. Data protection

Data handling is described in the Datenschutzerklärung. You can export or delete your account at any time via /me.

8. Changes

We may update these terms during the beta to reflect new features or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced by email before they take effect.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

Governing law: German law (BGB), with mandatory consumer protections under the user's country of habitual residence unaffected. Exclusive place of jurisdiction, as far as legally permissible against merchants: the operator's place of business (see Impressum). For consumers, statutory venue rules apply.
